Dear Mr. Weiss,

My name is Maria Morales, I have two beautiful children who attend P.S. 83. My son Christian Castro(who is in the 3rd grade) and my daughter Gabriella Castro (she is in kindergarten) are two childrenwho have been blessed with the opportunity to be a part of the Say Yes to Education “family.”

On September 29, 2004 Gabriella woke up with a fever, I called her school and spoke with one of herteachers, Mr. Dixon and the principal Ms. Castillo. I asked them if it was really worth going to
the Apollo Theatre, I didn’t know whether to take Gabriella to her pediatrician or to the Apollo. I
was told this was an event that I should definitely not miss with my daughter. To think I thought
Barney was in town, I thought he was giving a free show at the Apollo for P.S. 83 Kindergarten
students. Well, to my surprise, Barney was not the star at the Apollo, it was Mr. George Weiss.
Mr. Weiss, when you got on that stage and made the announcement that you were giving these studentsa full paid scholarship to college, I almost hit the floor. Actually I was an emotional wreck andburst into tears. My daughter had no idea what was going on, I kept telling her I was o.k. and I
was crying because I was very happy.

Mr. Weiss I want to thank you for this special gift you gave to my children, and as a loving and
supportive parent, I will try my hardest to help my children achieve their goals. I look forward to
working with the Say Yes to Education team. God bless you.

Sincerely yours,

Maria Morales
